I really enjoyed all the guitars on hand! Quite a variety and very organized in how they were displayed. My wife and I were there for about a little over an hour. And as Eric, a previous reviewer noted, we too were invisible! The only person that acknowledged us, was the friendly attractive woman on her computer just inside the entrance. Not one person in the acoustics room said a word. I had to approach two different employees with questions about different guitars. My wife and I are in our late 60's and from out of town. Not sure if our age had anything to do how the staff on the floor demonstrated their poor sales skills. Pretty sure it did! Another older customer noted the same thing to me as we discussed some of the guitars on display. Maybe someone should remind the sales staff that guitar players come in all ages. Not just in their peer group. Like the young guys that came in shortly before we left and were discussing metal music and going over Fender models. Dave's sales staff needs to do better!! We loved the marquee sign in the parking lot as well.

Buying a new guitar let alone a used guitar requires some experience and knowledge about them. With Xmas on the doorstep and parents shipping for son or daughters it will be a good idea to take someone along to help. Someone who knows the red flags and signs of problems. Never leave the shop without removing the guitar from it's case and fully inspecting the tune and the condition of the back front and neck of the guitar. Also make sure you gat the guitar you took off the rack and selected. Always buy a case or gigbag and fully understand the return policy. Finally request a new set of strings be installed. If they don't want to just buy a set and they'll do it. Don't buy the most expensive for a beginner. Good luck. John

Best guitar store ever. Gigantic inventory, reasonable prices, knowledgeable staff. I was able to trade a guitar in good condition on another guitar. They gave me a good price and a nice set up on my new one.

Picked up my J45 today after having it serviced and set up. Turnaround time was really fast. Price was very fair. It plays better than it ever has. Couldn’t be happier. Jeff is a magician.

Such an amazing experience! I stopped in at Dave's in La Crosse, as I usually do when traveling for work, October 3rd. Huge inventory on the floor. Literally on the floor, so many guitars the floor was covered with inventory as no wall hangers were available. Great prices too on what looked like new PRS SE Custom 24's marked down as Used. You have to also check out Dave's collection. You will never see so many historical guitars in one place. What made it even more special was the employee that spend time with me giving me some insight on the collection. His name was Tim and he was great! Thank you Tim for taking time to really make my day! Many thanks to Dave for publicly sharing his collection and passion for guitars. Please consider purchasing your next guitar from Dave's, I know I sure will!

I was probably 13 when I bought my first guitar from Dave's in 1999. I still stop in every time I'm in LaCrosse. You don't find guitar stores like this. Dave's is one of a kind.

Went and bought a guitar from them for the first time. I had went through their layaway program and payed on the phone. Picked up the guitar and didn’t really look at it before I left because I was in a rush. Opened it up when I got home and noticed that it had been poorly taken care of and wasn’t cleaned. I understand that with having used guitars, you can’t control if it has scratches and such but this guitar had crusty spots on the surface, layers of dust under the strings, rust on the bridge, the strings are slightly rusted on the bridge, I have a dead string, low E string doesn’t want to stay tuned. A lot of stuff. Love the guitar but I was very shocked nothing about it had been even taken care of by the shop. I love Dave’s guitar shop but I definitely didn’t expect to receive a guitar that seems to be poorly taken care of, if taken care of at all by them. It was very sad and disappointing that they didn’t have this beauty cleaned up and set up to sell. Would have been much happier if they would have just overall took care of the guitar while it was in their possession. I know if I had a shop, I wouldn’t sell some nasty/crusty guitar. That is embarrassing. I’d clean it to the best of my ability and make it be the most playable it could possibly be. If you guys from the shop read this, please take care of the guitars and actually do proper maintenance on them before you sell them. Was unsatisfied with how the guitar looked and sounded when I got it home.
